Blot the spill immediately with a clean white cloth or paper towel
Do not rub the stain
Cover the stain with salt or baking soda to absorb excess wine
Let it sit for 5 to 10 minutes
Vacuum up the salt or baking soda
Mix 1 part white vinegar with 2 parts water
Apply the solution to the stain with a clean cloth
Blot from the outside of the stain toward the center
Repeat with fresh cloths until the stain lifts
Sprinkle a small amount of dish soap mixed with water if needed
Blot again with a clean damp cloth
Rinse the area lightly with cold water
Blot dry with a clean towel
Place a dry towel over the area and press down to remove moisture
Let the carpet air dry completely
Vacuum the area after it dries to restore the carpet texture
