Check the paint type on the fabric label or paint container
Scrape off any excess paint with a dull knife or spoon
Blot wet paint with a clean paper towel or cloth
Rinse the stained area with cold water from the back of the fabric
Apply liquid laundry detergent or dish soap to the stain
Gently rub the fabric together or use a soft brush
Let the detergent sit for 10 to 15 minutes
Rinse again with cold water
Repeat the treatment if needed
For dried latex paint, soak the fabric in warm soapy water
For oil-based paint, use a small amount of paint thinner or mineral spirits on a hidden area first
Dab the stain with the solvent using a clean cloth
Wash the fabric according to the care label
Air-dry the fabric before checking if the stain is gone
Do not put the fabric in the dryer until the stain is fully removed
