Gather a valid government-issued photo ID and a photocopy of the front and back
Get one passport photo that meets U.S. Department of State requirements
Find a passport acceptance facility in Michigan, such as a post office, clerk’s office, or library
Make an appointment if the acceptance facility requires one
Bring the completed application, documents, photo, and payment to the acceptance facility
Pay the required fees for the passport application and acceptance service
Have your application submitted in person if required
Track your application status after submission
Renew by mail with Form DS-82 if your passport is eligible for mail renewal
