Blow your nose gently
Use saline nasal spray or drops
Drink plenty of fluids
Rest as much as possible
Use a humidifier or breathe in steam
Take a warm shower
Apply a warm compress to your face
Avoid smoke, dust, and strong odors
Use over-the-counter cold or allergy medicine if appropriate
Treat allergies with an antihistamine if the runny nose is allergy-related
Keep your head elevated when resting
Wash your hands often
See a doctor if symptoms are severe, long-lasting, or include fever, trouble breathing, or facial pain
