Test and balance the water
Adjust pH to 7.2–7.6
Raise chlorine to shock level
Brush all pool surfaces
Run the pump and filter continuously
Backwash or clean the filter
Vacuum dead algae from the pool
Add an algaecide if needed
Clean skimmer baskets and pump basket
Scrub pool walls, steps, and corners
Remove debris from the pool
Repeat shocking if algae remains
Maintain proper chlorine and circulation
Prevent future algae growth with regular testing and cleaning
