Rest and sleep as much as possible
Drink plenty of water, broth, or electrolyte fluids
Take acetaminophen or ibuprofen as directed on the label
Use a lukewarm sponge bath if needed
Wear lightweight clothing
Keep the room comfortably cool
Avoid heavy blankets
Eat light foods if you can tolerate them
Monitor your temperature regularly
Seek medical care if the fever is very high, lasts more than 3 days, or comes with trouble breathing, confusion, stiff neck, chest pain, or dehydration
