Rinse sinks and scrub drains
Dry out houseplant soil and remove decaying leaves
Fix leaks and eliminate standing water
Use apple cider vinegar traps with a few drops of dish soap
Place sticky traps near windows, sinks, trash, and plants
Vacuum gnats directly when you see them
Wipe counters, floors, and pet areas thoroughly
Store food in sealed containers
Run fans to disrupt flying gnats
Replace or clean drain covers and garbage disposal areas
Use a diluted bleach or enzyme drain treatment if gnats are coming from drains
Repot houseplants with fresh soil if fungus gnats are breeding there
Keep windows and doors closed or screened
Repeat cleaning and trapping daily until they are gone
