Open the YouTube video
Click the video description “More” (if available) to expand details
Check whether the video has an “Transcript” link near the video player
Click “Transcript”
In the transcript panel, use the search box to find specific words
Select “Show transcript” options if prompted
To copy text: highlight the transcript text in the transcript panel and copy
If “Transcript” is not available: click the video’s “…” menu (or “More”) and look for “Show transcript” or “Open transcript” (wording may vary)
If the video has captions but no transcript link: open the video’s “CC” captions menu and look for caption/caption language options, then use the transcript panel if it appears
Use YouTube’s “Download” option only if shown (varies by channel/setting) and then open the downloaded caption file
Use third-party caption/transcript tools only if they provide the transcript from the video’s captions (avoid sites that require credentials)
