How To Change Car Battery?

Park the car on a level surface, set the parking brake, and turn off the ignition

Open the hood and locate the battery

Identify the battery terminals: negative (-) and positive (+)

Put on safety glasses and gloves

If present, remove the battery cover or any hold-down bracket

Disconnect the negative (-) terminal first

Disconnect the positive (+) terminal second

Remove the battery hold-down clamp/strap

Lift the old battery out carefully using the carry handle

Check the battery tray for corrosion, debris, or damage

If needed, clean the battery terminals and cable ends with a terminal cleaner or wire brush

Place the new battery in the tray and ensure proper orientation

Secure the battery with the hold-down clamp/strap

Connect the positive (+) terminal first

Connect the negative (-) terminal second

Tighten terminal connections securely without over-tightening

Apply terminal protectant or corrosion inhibitor if available

Reinstall any battery cover or components removed earlier

Close the hood

Start the engine to confirm it runs properly

Verify that headlights and electronics operate correctly

Dispose of the old battery at a recycling center or auto parts store
