Park the car on a flat surface and turn off the engine
Remove the key and set the parking brake
Open the hood and locate the battery
Wear gloves and safety glasses
Identify the negative terminal marked with a minus sign
Loosen and remove the negative cable first
Secure the negative cable away from the battery
Identify the positive terminal marked with a plus sign
Loosen and remove the positive cable
Remove any battery hold-down clamp or bracket
Lift the old battery out carefully
Place the new battery in the same position
Reinstall the hold-down clamp or bracket
Connect the positive cable first
Connect the negative cable second
Tighten both cable connections securely
Check that the battery is firmly in place
Close the hood
Start the car to confirm the battery works
