Put the vehicle in park or neutral
Set the parking brake
Turn the ignition off
Wear eye protection and gloves
Locate the starter solenoid
Identify the two large terminals on the solenoid
Use an insulated tool or remote starter switch
Keep hands and tools clear of moving parts
Bridge the two large terminals briefly
Do not touch the metal tool to any other parts
If the engine cranks, remove the tool immediately
Disconnect the battery before inspecting any wiring
Do not jump the solenoid if fuel leaks or damaged wiring are present
