Turn off the ignition and all electrical accessories
Put the vehicle in park or neutral and set the parking brake
Wear safety glasses and gloves if available
Identify the positive terminal marked with a plus sign or red cover
Identify the negative terminal marked with a minus sign or black cover
Connect the positive cable to the positive terminal first
Tighten the positive connection securely
Connect the negative cable to the negative terminal second
Tighten the negative connection securely
Check that both clamps are firmly attached and not loose
Close the hood or battery cover
Start the vehicle if needed and verify normal operation
