Let the engine cool completely
Park on a level surface or with the front slightly elevated
Check the coolant level and top off the reservoir with the correct coolant mix
Open the radiator cap only when the engine is cold
Start the engine and set the heater to maximum heat
Let the engine idle and watch the coolant level
Add coolant as the level drops
Squeeze the upper and lower radiator hoses gently to help move trapped air
Use the vehicle’s bleed screw or air-bleed valve if equipped
Keep the radiator or reservoir filled to the proper level
Wait until the thermostat opens and the upper hose gets hot
Continue idling until bubbles stop appearing
Rev the engine lightly a few times if needed
Replace the radiator cap securely
Let the engine reach operating temperature
Shut the engine off and allow it to cool
Recheck the coolant level in the radiator and reservoir
Top off again if needed
Repeat the bleeding process if overheating or gurgling continues
