Apply a warm compress to the area for 10 to 15 minutes, 3 to 4 times a day

If the lump is from a piercing, clean it with saline solution
See a doctor if the lump is painful, red, warm, growing, or draining pus
See a doctor if it does not improve within 1 to 2 weeks
Seek urgent care if you have fever, severe swelling, or spreading redness
