Brush off visible mold gently
Wash the clothes in the hottest water safe for the fabric
Add laundry detergent
Add white vinegar or baking soda if the fabric allows
Use oxygen bleach for color-safe fabrics
For white cotton, use chlorine bleach only if the care label allows
Wash the items separately from other laundry
Run an extra rinse cycle
Dry the clothes completely in direct sunlight if possible
Use a dryer on high heat if the fabric allows
Repeat the wash if mold smell or stains remain
Soak heavily affected items before washing
Discard items that are badly damaged or still moldy after repeated cleaning
Clean the washer after washing moldy clothes
Store clean clothes only when fully dry
Keep clothes in a dry, ventilated place
