Hand-pull small patches, removing as much of the tubers as possible
Dig out the entire root system and tubers
Repeatedly mow or cut before it seeds
Improve drainage and reduce overwatering
Apply a thick mulch in garden beds
Use landscape fabric in infested areas
Spot-treat with a non-selective herbicide where appropriate
Use a selective herbicide labeled for nutgrass in lawns
Repeat herbicide applications as directed on the label
Avoid tilling infested soil, which can spread tubers
Clean tools, shoes, and mower blades after use
Replant dense, competitive ground cover or turf
Monitor regularly and remove new shoots quickly
