Blot the stain with a paper towel or clean cloth to remove excess oil
Sprinkle baking soda, cornstarch, or talcum powder on the stain and let it sit for 15 to 30 minutes
Brush or shake off the powder
Apply a small amount of dish soap directly to the stain
Gently rub the fabric together or use a soft brush
Let the dish soap sit for 5 to 10 minutes
Wash the garment in the hottest water safe for the fabric
Check the stain before drying
Repeat the treatment if the stain remains
Avoid putting the item in the dryer until the stain is gone
For delicate fabrics, use a stain remover made for the fabric type
For old stains, apply a degreasing liquid detergent and soak before washing
