Wear gloves, long sleeves, and eye protection

Cut vines at the base

Pull vines away from trees, fences, and structures

Dig out the roots and runners

Remove as much root material as possible

Recheck the area regularly for new growth

Pull or cut new shoots immediately

Apply a systemic herbicide to fresh cuts if needed

Repeat treatment for stubborn regrowth

Dispose of all removed plant material properly

Do not compost live vines or roots

Cover the area with mulch or landscape fabric to suppress regrowth
