File the top coat lightly with a nail file
Soak cotton balls in acetone
Place the soaked cotton on each nail
Wrap each fingertip tightly with aluminum foil
Wait 10 to 15 minutes
Gently push off the softened shellac with a cuticle pusher
Rewrap and soak again if the shellac does not lift easily
Buff away any remaining residue
Wash hands thoroughly
Apply cuticle oil and hand moisturizer
Avoid peeling or scraping the shellac off forcefully
