Wash your hands and the area with soap and water
Soak the skin in warm water for 10 to 15 minutes
Dry the area gently
Use adhesive tape to pull out a shallow splinter
Press a piece of duct tape or strong tape over the splinter
Peel the tape off slowly in the opposite direction of the splinter
Use a baking soda paste for a small, stubborn splinter
Mix baking soda with a little water and apply it to the area
Cover with a bandage and leave it for a few hours
Rinse and check if the splinter has moved closer to the surface
Use a sterilized needle to gently lift the tip if it is visible
Clean the needle with rubbing alcohol first
Gently open the skin just enough to expose the splinter tip
Wash the area again after removal
Apply antiseptic or antibiotic ointment
Cover with a clean bandage
Seek medical help if the splinter is deep, under a nail, in the eye, or causing infection signs
