Blot up as much urine as possible with clean paper towels or a dry cloth
Remove all bedding and wash it separately
Mix equal parts white vinegar and water in a spray bottle
Lightly spray the stained area without soaking the mattress
Blot again with clean towels
Sprinkle baking soda over the damp area
Let the baking soda sit until completely dry
Vacuum up the dried baking soda
Repeat the vinegar and baking soda process if needed
Use an enzyme cleaner for stubborn urine odors or pet urine
Allow the mattress to air dry fully
Place the mattress in a well-ventilated area or use a fan
Avoid using heat until the smell is gone
Use a waterproof mattress protector to prevent future stains
