Prepare the medicine, syringe or dropper, and a towel
Read the dosage instructions carefully
Shake the medicine if the label says to
Wrap the cat gently in a towel if needed
Hold the cat securely but calmly
Position the cat’s head level, not tilted back
Place the syringe or dropper into the side of the mouth
Aim toward the cheek, not the throat
Give small amounts at a time
Allow the cat to swallow between doses
Keep the cat’s mouth closed briefly if needed
Offer a small treat or water after dosing if allowed
Check that the full dose was swallowed
Clean the syringe or dropper after use
Wash your hands after giving the medicine
Contact a veterinarian if the cat spits it out, vomits, or resists strongly
