Prepare the medicine, a towel, and a syringe or dropper
Read the label and confirm the correct dose
Wash your hands
Wrap the cat gently in a towel if needed
Hold the cat securely with the head level, not tilted back
Place the syringe into the side of the mouth, behind the canine tooth
Aim toward the cheek, not straight down the throat
Give small amounts slowly
Allow the cat to swallow between small squirts
Keep the cat calm and steady
Offer a small treat or water afterward if allowed
Check that the full dose was swallowed
Clean the syringe or dropper after use
Contact a veterinarian if the cat spits it out, vomits, or resists strongly
