Choose a large pot with drainage holes
Use a pot at least 12 to 16 inches deep and wide
Fill the bottom with 4 to 6 inches of quality potting mix
Use certified seed potatoes
Cut large seed potatoes into pieces with at least 1 or 2 eyes each
Let cut pieces dry for 1 to 2 days before planting
Place seed potato pieces on the soil surface with eyes facing up
Cover with 3 to 4 inches of soil
Water thoroughly after planting
Keep soil evenly moist, not soggy
Place the pot in full sun
Add more soil around the stems as plants grow
Continue hilling until the pot is nearly full
Fertilize lightly during the growing season
Check regularly for pests and disease
Harvest when foliage turns yellow and dies back
Tip out the pot and collect the potatoes
Let harvested potatoes dry before storing
