Measure the window width and height
Choose drapery rods and hardware
Mark the mounting height above the window
Mark the bracket locations on both sides
Drill pilot holes if needed
Install wall anchors if needed
Attach the brackets securely
Insert the drapery rod through the drapes
Place the rod onto the brackets
Adjust the drapes evenly
Check that the drapes hang straight
Secure any finials or end caps
Test opening and closing the drapes
