Wash your hands before touching the piercing

Do not twist, rotate, or remove the jewelry
Avoid touching, picking, or squeezing the piercing
Wear loose, breathable clothing to reduce irritation
Avoid swimming pools, hot tubs, lakes, and oceans until healed
Do not use alcohol, hydrogen peroxide, or harsh ointments
Apply a warm saline compress for 5 to 10 minutes if swollen or irritated
Keep the area free from sweat, dirt, and friction
Make sure the jewelry is made of implant-grade titanium, surgical steel, or solid gold
See a professional piercer if the jewelry is too tight, damaged, or causing pressure
Seek medical care if you have spreading redness, severe pain, fever, thick yellow or green discharge, or worsening swelling
