Keep the area clean and dry

Rest and avoid heavy lifting
Avoid sex until cleared by your clinician
Wear loose, breathable cotton underwear
Wash hands before and after touching the area
Watch for signs of infection: fever, worsening pain, foul-smelling discharge, redness, or swelling
Contact a clinician if stitches open, bleeding increases, or pain worsens
