Schedule the mammogram for a time when your breasts are least likely to be tender, if possible
Avoid using deodorant, antiperspirant, lotion, powder, or perfume on your underarms and breasts on the day of the exam
Wear a two-piece outfit so you can remove only your top and bra
Bring any prior mammogram images or records if requested
Inform the technologist if you are pregnant, breastfeeding, or have breast implants
Tell the technologist about any breast symptoms, surgeries, or pain
Follow any specific instructions from your healthcare provider or imaging center
Take an over-the-counter pain reliever before the exam only if your doctor says it is okay
Try to relax and avoid scheduling during the most sensitive part of your menstrual cycle if applicable
Arrive on time and be prepared to change into a gown if needed
