How To Help A Constipated Baby?

Offer more frequent breastfeeds or formula feeds

Check with a pediatrician before changing formula

Give small amounts of water only if your pediatrician says it is okay

Try gentle tummy massage

Move the baby’s legs in a bicycle motion

Give a warm bath

Make sure formula is mixed exactly as directed

If the baby is eating solids, offer fiber-rich foods like prunes, pears, peaches, or peas

Avoid foods that can worsen constipation, such as too much rice cereal or bananas

Contact a pediatrician if the baby has a swollen belly, vomiting, blood in stool, fever, or severe discomfort

Seek medical advice if constipation lasts more than a few days or the baby is very young
