Use saline nose drops or spray made for babies
Use a bulb syringe or nasal aspirator after saline to clear mucus
Keep baby upright for short periods while awake
Use a cool-mist humidifier in the baby’s room
Offer frequent feeds to keep baby hydrated
Use smaller, more frequent feedings if congestion makes feeding hard
Keep baby away from smoke, strong scents, and dust
Gently suction the nose before feeds and sleep
Raise the head of the crib mattress only if advised by a pediatrician
Make sure baby gets plenty of rest
Contact a pediatrician if baby has trouble breathing, poor feeding, fever, or symptoms that worsen
