Clean the cut gently with mild soap and water
Apply direct pressure with a clean cloth to stop bleeding
Cover it with a sterile bandage or adhesive strip
Use a skin-colored bandage if you want it less noticeable
Keep the area moisturized with petroleum jelly or antibiotic ointment if appropriate
Change the dressing regularly to keep it clean
Avoid picking at scabs or peeling skin
Wear clothing or accessories that cover the area if possible
Use makeup only on fully closed, healed skin
Seek medical care if the cut is deep, won’t stop bleeding, or shows signs of infection
