Eat iron-rich foods at every meal: red meat, liver, chicken, fish, eggs, beans, lentils, tofu, spinach, kale, beetroot, pumpkin seeds, sesame seeds
Include vitamin C with iron-rich meals: oranges, lemons, amla, guava, strawberries, tomatoes, bell peppers
Avoid tea, coffee, and cocoa within 1–2 hours of iron-rich meals
Take iron supplements only if prescribed by a doctor
Take folic acid only if prescribed by a doctor
Take vitamin B12 only if prescribed by a doctor
Use cast-iron cookware for cooking
Eat small frequent meals if appetite is low
Stay hydrated with water and oral fluids
Include protein-rich foods daily: meat, fish, eggs, dairy, legumes, soy
Avoid calcium supplements with iron-rich meals
Treat heavy menstrual bleeding if present
Get tested for anemia, iron deficiency, B12 deficiency, and folate deficiency
Rest adequately and avoid overexertion
Seek urgent medical care if there is chest pain, fainting, shortness of breath, black stools, or severe weakness
