Sit the patient upright or in a semi-upright position
Ensure the airway is clear and the patient is breathing normally
Use a pulse oximeter to monitor oxygen saturation
Give supplemental oxygen if prescribed or available
Use a nasal cannula for mild oxygen support
Use a face mask for higher oxygen support if needed
Increase oxygen flow only under medical guidance
Encourage slow, deep breathing if the patient is able
Encourage prone or side-lying positioning if tolerated
Keep the patient calm and avoid unnecessary movement
Seek urgent medical help if oxygen saturation stays low
Seek emergency care if the patient has severe shortness of breath, blue lips, confusion, or drowsiness
Use CPAP, BiPAP, or ventilator support only in a hospital setting
Follow a doctor’s instructions for COVID treatment and oxygen therapy
