How to Install Engineered Hardwood?

Acclimate the engineered hardwood in the room for the manufacturer-recommended time

Check the subfloor for flatness, dryness, and structural soundness

Remove existing flooring, baseboards, and trim as needed

Clean the subfloor thoroughly

Repair low spots, high spots, cracks, and loose areas

Install a moisture barrier if required

Install underlayment if required

Plan the layout and determine the starting wall

Measure the room and snap reference lines

Cut door jambs and trim to allow flooring to slide underneath

Select the installation method: nail-down, glue-down, or floating

Begin the first row with the tongue or groove facing the correct direction

Leave the required expansion gap around all walls and fixed objects

Stagger end joints between rows

Secure planks according to the chosen installation method

Use spacers to maintain expansion gaps

Cut planks to fit along edges, corners, and obstacles

Install the final row and trim pieces to fit

Reinstall baseboards, trim, and transition strips

Clean the floor and remove spacers

Follow the manufacturer’s curing or waiting time before heavy use
