Gather the door knob, latch, screws, screwdriver, and strike plate
Remove the old door knob if one is installed
Insert the latch into the edge of the door with the beveled side facing the door frame
Secure the latch with screws
Align the exterior knob or handle with the latch assembly
Insert the interior knob or handle onto the spindle
Fasten both sides together with the provided screws
Test the knob to make sure it turns smoothly
Close the door and mark the latch position on the frame
Install the strike plate on the door frame
Tighten all screws
Check that the door opens and closes properly
