Check the care label and fabric type
Empty pockets and remove any belt or accessories
Turn pants inside out if the fabric is delicate or prone to shine
Set the iron to the correct heat setting for the fabric
Fill the iron with water if using steam
Lay the pants flat on the ironing board
Start with the waistband and pockets
Iron the front of one leg, then the back of the same leg
Align the leg seams and press along the crease if desired
Move to the other leg and repeat
Use steam or a damp cloth for stubborn wrinkles
Avoid pressing too hard on delicate fabrics
Hang the pants immediately after ironing
Let the pants cool and dry fully before wearing or storing
