Freeze the ice cream as hard as possible before packing
Pack the cooler tightly to reduce air space
Place ice cream in the center of the cooler
Surround the ice cream with dry ice or block ice
Use dry ice for longer trips if allowed
Keep the cooler out of direct sunlight
Open the cooler as little as possible
Add extra insulation with towels or newspaper
Keep ice cream in sealed, airtight containers
Avoid using loose cubed ice that melts quickly
Drain meltwater if it accumulates
Store the cooler in the coldest available place
Transport the cooler in an air-conditioned vehicle
Freeze the cooler contents again as soon as possible
