Use squirrel-proof bird feeders
Place feeders at least 10 feet away from trees, fences, and roofs
Mount feeders on smooth metal poles with baffles
Install dome or cone baffles above or below the feeder
Hang feeders from thin wire instead of branches
Use safflower seed, which squirrels usually avoid
Avoid mixed seed with corn, millet, or sunflower if squirrels are a problem
Keep feeders clean and do not let spilled seed accumulate
Position feeders higher off the ground
Use separate feeding stations for squirrels away from bird feeders
Apply slippery pole guards or predator guards
Trim nearby branches and climbing access points
Use weight-activated feeders
Bring feeders in at night if needed
Rotate feeder locations if squirrels keep finding them
