Clean drains and garbage disposal with hot water and a brush
Scrub countertops, sinks, and areas where juice or spills collect
Cover food and drinks; wipe up spills immediately
Use a vinegar trap: fill a jar with apple cider vinegar, add a few drops of dish soap, cover with plastic wrap and poke small holes
Make a fruit-fly funnel trap: place apple cider vinegar in a cup/jar and add dish soap; insert paper funnel with the narrow end pointing down
Use sticky traps near breeding areas and along fly paths
Apply an enzyme drain cleaner to sink/drain lines (follow label directions)
If needed, use an appropriate insect spray labeled for fruit flies indoors, focusing on cracks, drains, and breeding areas (follow label directions)
Seal entry points by closing windows with screens and keeping doors shut
Repeat traps and cleaning for several days until activity stops
