Eliminate standing water from containers, gutters, tires, buckets, plant saucers, and tarps
Empty and scrub water-holding items at least once a week
Cover rain barrels, water tanks, and other stored water containers with tight-fitting lids or mesh
Use mosquito dunks or larvicides containing Bacillus thuringiensis israelensis (Bti) in standing water that cannot be drained
Apply methoprene larvicide to approved water sources according to label directions
Introduce mosquito-eating fish into suitable ornamental ponds where permitted
Aerate ponds and water features to reduce stagnant water
Keep swimming pools chlorinated and filtered, and cover them when not in use
Clean roof gutters regularly to prevent water buildup
Fill low spots in yards where water collects
Remove or drill holes in items that can trap rainwater
Replace water in birdbaths, pet bowls, and plant trays frequently
Use fine mesh screens over drains, vents, and openings where needed
Maintain septic systems, drainage areas, and ditches to prevent pooling
Follow all product label instructions and local regulations when using larvicides
