Open the ratchet handle fully until it lies flat
Press the release latch or release lever
Hold the release latch while pulling the handle back to the open position
If needed, pull the strap slightly to reduce tension
Keep the release latch engaged and let the strap unwind slowly
Remove the hook or unthread the strap from the ratchet
Repeat for the other side if both ends are secured
