Choose the bag type and size
Gather fabric, lining, thread, scissors, pins, and a sewing machine
Cut the outer fabric pieces
Cut the lining pieces
Cut interfacing or stabilizer if needed
Attach interfacing to the outer fabric
Sew any pockets or compartments
Sew the outer pieces together
Sew the lining pieces together
Attach straps, handles, or a zipper
Join the outer bag and lining
Turn the bag right side out
Press the seams
Topstitch if needed
Check the bag for strength and finish any loose ends
