How To Make A Bird House?

Gather untreated wood boards, nails or screws, a drill, saw, measuring tape, and sandpaper

Choose a birdhouse design suitable for the bird species you want to attract

Cut the wood into front, back, sides, floor, and roof pieces

Drill an entrance hole of the correct size for the target bird species

Drill a few small drainage holes in the floor

Drill small ventilation holes near the top on the sides

Sand all rough edges and splinters

Assemble the walls, floor, and roof with nails or screws

Leave the front or side removable for cleaning if possible

Make sure the roof overhangs slightly to keep out rain

Avoid using paint or use only non-toxic, outdoor-safe paint on the outside

Mount the birdhouse on a pole, tree, or post at the proper height

Place it in a quiet, safe location away from predators

Clean the birdhouse after nesting season each year
