Gather paper, scissors, ruler, pencil, glue or tape, and a handle string
Fold the paper in half lengthwise
Draw a line about 1 inch from the top edge
Cut evenly spaced slits from the folded edge up to the drawn line
Unfold the paper
Roll the paper into a cylinder and secure the ends with glue or tape
Cut a strip of paper for the handle
Attach the handle to the top of the lantern
Add a paper strip around the top or bottom if desired for decoration
Place a battery-operated tea light inside if needed
