How To Make A Rag Quilt?

Gather cotton fabric, batting, scissors or rotary cutter, ruler, pins or clips, and a sewing machine

Cut fabric into equal-size squares

Cut batting into slightly smaller squares

Make fabric sandwich layers with one square of backing, one square of batting, and one square of top fabric

Pin or clip each layered square

Sew an X or straight lines through each square to secure the layers

Arrange the sewn squares into rows

Sew the squares together with seams facing outward

Join all rows to form the quilt top

Sew around the outer edge of the quilt

Clip the seam allowances every quarter inch without cutting the stitching

Wash the quilt to create the ragged texture

Dry the quilt and shake out loose threads

Trim any remaining loose threads if needed
