Rinse and hull 2 cups of strawberries
Slice the strawberries
Add the strawberries to a saucepan with 1 cup sugar and 1 cup water
Bring the mixture to a simmer over medium heat
Stir until the sugar dissolves
Cook for 10 to 15 minutes, stirring occasionally
Mash the strawberries gently while cooking
Remove from heat
Strain the mixture through a fine mesh sieve if you want a smooth syrup
Let the syrup cool
Transfer to a clean jar or bottle
Refrigerate before using
