2 oz bourbon or rye whiskey
1 sugar cube or 1/2 tsp simple syrup
2 to 3 dashes Angostura bitters
1 teaspoon water
Ice
Orange peel
Place the sugar cube in a rocks glass
Add the bitters and water
Muddle or stir until the sugar dissolves
Add the whiskey
Fill the glass with ice
Stir gently until chilled
Express the orange peel over the drink
Rub the peel around the rim
Drop the peel into the glass or discard it
