2 oz bourbon or rye whiskey
1 sugar cube or 1/2 tsp simple syrup
2 to 3 dashes Angostura bitters
1 teaspoon water
Orange peel
Ice
Place the sugar cube in an old fashioned glass
Add bitters and water
Muddle until the sugar dissolves
Add a large ice cube or several ice cubes
Pour in the whiskey
Stir gently
Express the orange peel over the drink
Rub the peel around the rim
Drop the peel into the glass or discard it
