1 cup ketchup
1/2 cup brown sugar
1/4 cup apple cider vinegar
1/4 cup water
1/4 cup Worcestershire sauce
2 tbsp yellow mustard
1 tbsp molasses (optional)
1 tbsp chili powder
1 tsp smoked paprika
1 tsp garlic powder
1/2 tsp onion powder
1/2 tsp black pepper
1/4 to 1 tsp cayenne pepper (optional)
1/2 tsp salt (adjust to taste)
Combine all ingredients in a saucepan
Bring to a simmer over medium heat
Reduce heat to low and cook 15 to 25 minutes, stirring occasionally
Taste and adjust salt, sugar, heat, and vinegar as needed
Cool slightly, then use immediately or let it thicken as it cools
Store in an airtight container in the refrigerator up to 2 weeks
