Gather mature coconuts
Remove the husk and crack the coconuts open
Drain and collect the coconut water
Remove the white coconut meat from the shell
Wash the coconut meat
Grate or chop the coconut meat
Blend the grated coconut with warm water
Strain the mixture to extract coconut milk
Let the coconut milk sit until the cream separates
Skim off the coconut cream
Heat the coconut cream over low heat
Stir occasionally until the oil separates
Continue heating until the water evaporates
Remove from heat and let it cool
Strain the oil through a clean cloth or fine sieve
Store the coconut oil in a clean, dry container
