Fill the percolator with cold water to the desired level
Add coarsely ground coffee to the basket
Place the basket and stem into the percolator
Secure the lid
Put the percolator on the stove or heat source
Heat until the coffee begins to perk
Reduce heat to maintain a gentle perk
Brew for about 5 to 10 minutes
Remove from heat
Let the coffee settle for a minute
Pour and serve
